What is SAMHSA’s National Helpline?
SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357), (also known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service) or TTY: 1-800-487-4889 is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations. Callers can also order free publications and other information.

This hospital has a full range of services and a pharmacy. Clinics are often open to the public. Offerings include support groups, community classes, events, education programs, free community health clinic for non-insured, Healthy Kids youth program, and Junior Volunteers program.

Inpatient Psychiatric and Counseling Services: Department of Behavioral Medicine
Winona Health includes an 8-bed inpatient unit known as the Department of Behavioral Medicine. This secured unit offers special programs for those suffering from chemical dependency, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, schizophrenia and psychosis.

Winona Health Psychiatric & Counseling Services offers a comprehensive array of outpatient services:

The Winona Health Psychiatric and Counseling staff includes psychiatrists, licensed counselors, therapists and support staff.
Family & Children’s Center is a regional, private, not-for-profit agency that provides a continuum of services designed to strengthen families and promote individual well-being, including child abuse and neglect prevention, alternative schools, community-based counseling, residential options, community support programs, and several outreach programs.

You must be at least 21 years of age and pass a criminal background check to volunteer at the Family & Children’s Center due to state licensing regulations. They do not allow volunteers in need of court-ordered community service hours.

Birthright is a volunteer-staffed crisis pregnancy center offering free and confidential support including pregnancy testing and practical help. Birthright volunteers staff the office 6 days per week and provide non-judgmental acceptance of anyone distressed about a pregnancy. Birthright volunteers listen to the concerns of their clients and connect them with the appropriate community resources for assistance, including free pregnancy tests.

Crisis Pregnancy Center Volunteer:
Birthright volunteers listen to the concerns of their clients, provide free pregnancy tests and other practical support, and connect clients with the community resources they may need. Birthright volunteers provide a friendly, non-judgmental listening ear for people who are worried about a stressful situation.
Requirements: Birthright volunteers will be provided with initial and on-going training and support by a robust local and international organization.

The Winona Counseling Clinic was founded in 1987 as a licensed outpatient mental health clinic and outpatient chemical dependency treatment facility. Michelle Johnson purchased the clinic in 2000 and is the current director of the clinic.
