Winona Chore Corps is a program under the Winona Friendship Center that provides older adults in the city of Winona and Goodview with services to ensure they are able to remain living safely in their own home.
The Chore Corps is in search of individuals who are interested in providing a variety of services including snow shoveling and snow blowing in the winter, lawn care in the summer, and a variety of other chore services year round. Equipment is provided by the Chore Corps or the client and includes lawn mowers, snow shovels, snow blowers, and more. The Chore Corps works to support the independence of older adults, build community, and provide valuable and meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Must be 18 to operate motorized equipment. Walking, pushing, and lifting may be required. Volunteers need to pass basic background check.

Time commitment is about 6 hours for a full shift; age requirement 18 or older; shifts generally require standing/walking, and some set-up/take-down shifts require more strenuous lifting/bending/moving around.
Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center is a nonprofit organization that provides mental health services to children, families and adults in Winona, Houston, Fillmore, Wabasha and Goodhue Counties is looking for volunteers to help with small, outside, painting projects at The Board and Lodge homes and yard workers at our Board and Lodge homes and the Winona Clinic location. Yard work includes; weed pulling, bush trimming, trash pickup and mowing the lawn.

The Pickwick Mill Inc. (on National Registry of Historic Sites) is open May-Oct, Tues-Sun, noon – 5 p.m. Volunteer time can be flexible with a minimum of 5 hrs/day. You must be able to walk stairs and calculate change. Very unique opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Unique history experience to see the original equipment in the museum.
Frozen River Film Festival is a documentary film festival local to Winona that strives to educate and activate our community through the art of documentary films on a variety of topics, from the environment, to adventure sports, to travel and culture, and so much more. FRFF 2022 is coming up February 6-13!
The following positions are open checking tickets and ushering at film venues, assisting in merchandise, tickets, and concessions sales, survey promotions, and other areas. Time commitment is about 5 hours.
1. Help map existing AEDs in the Winona community (including collecting existing info from businesses) and get locations added to the PulsePoint app.
2. Assess the interest in and greatest needs for additional AEDs in the community. This work would include surveys and interviews with businesses and organizations.
3. Identifying potential funding and/or assisting with grantwriting, knowing many businesses/organizations would need an incentive like a reduced-cost or free AED.

The Winona County Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention is a group that works on preventing teen substance abuse by hosting various awareness campaigns and events.
Volunteers often help plan or facilitate activities throughout the community based on their individual strengths and interests. Students and adults are able to help, must be middle school or older. Visit our website and “Events” tab to see common activities – http://www.winonacountyasap.org.
The Winona Community Warming Center provides access to laundry, showers, food, water, shelter, and recourses for people experiencing homelessness in the Winona area.
Volunteers will help staff with intake or exit of guests for a given night. This could be helping setup or take down beds, serving food, assisting with laundry, or even playing a game with a guest.
Have to be 18 years old and pass a background check. Not ADA accessible. Is in the basement of a church and no elevator.
Volunteers needed: 7 days a week. 8:30pm-11:30pm or 5:00am-7:30am
