The meditation practice zazen is a physical and mental practice in which you create a laboratory within which to study the self. Simply put, Zen meditation is the study of the self. Within this ‘practical laboratory’, variables or distractions are eliminated by being still and sitting in silence. There are many forms of Zen meditation, from following your breathing to the 8 levels of absorption (samadhi/ jhana), from the penetrating inquiry of koan study, through shikan-taza (sitting as this very moment) to Pure Being beyond form and formlessness. You begin by sitting still in silence, breathing fully and mentally focused on the sensations in the kikai meridian point in the low belly moving with your inhalation and exhalation.
This practice, zazen, can be practiced by anyone regardless of experience or background. This is a practice cultivating deep concentration and alertness to each moment of life. This brings with it deeper understanding of our own humanity and human development.

St. Martin’s Lutheran Church has a rich history that dates back to when it was founded in 1856. The church continues to thrive over 150 years later. It also has a K-8 elementary school and offers a half day program for prekindergarten 3 and 4 year olds for parents that want to help their children receive a Christ-centered education at an affordable price. Over half of every student’s annual tuition is paid for by the church.
On May 23 2010 the congregations of McKinley UMC and Central UMC came together to worship at Windom Park in Winona, MN. It was their first worship together to begin the merging of the two congregations into one new “reborn” congregation. Over the next two years the mission statement of “Love God. Love People.” was formed and then on May 6 2012 the new name “Wesley United Methodist Church” was chosen for this reborn congregation.
