The Elder Network empowers older adults to adjust to life’s transitions; to live life as fully, safely, and independently as possible in their chosen environment. Elder Network provides services to adults age “55 and better” in Olmsted, Winona and Wabasha Counties.
In Winona County they offer:
- peer support services to older adults who are facing challenges in their lives such as isolation, grief, loneliness, major health changes or retirement
- direct respite services to give caregivers a break from care giving, offer educational materials, and assistance on developing plans to decrease stress
- a monthly caregiver support group as well as educational events that are free and open to the public
- Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health. REACH is a proven approach used by trained caregiver consultants to support family members and others who are caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia
Volunteer:
There are a growing number of older adults in our community who need some type of assistance each day for an indefinite period of time. Often, this means piecing together assistance from all parts of the support system; formal and informal, and still having some needs unfulfilled.
Your talents can help many people within our community. Volunteering can be very rewarding! Helping others has endless possibilities. Meeting new people and helping them cope with life can be a life changing experience.
Training provided and criminal background check required for all volunteer opportunities.
