Our mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Habitat for Humanity serving Winona County is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization. Habitat is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Habitat for Humanity serving Winona County has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live – regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views, or any other distinction that too often divides us – are welcome to help with the work. Habitat for Humanity offers the following programs: Homeownership – We build homes with families using volunteer labor. We sell these houses at no profit and no interest to families who could not otherwise afford a home. We build decent, safe, energy-efficient homes designed to fit each family.
A Brush With Kindness –We offer low-cost exterior home repairs and improvements. This program is for homeowners earning 60 percent or less of the median income.
Aging In Place – This program is specifically designed to help people 65+ or living with a disability stay safe in their homes. We offer safety updates and accessibility modifications, such as handrails, ramps, widened doorways, and bathroom updates.
ReStore – Our mission is to raise funds to support Habitat’s home construction and repair projects right here in our community.
