Grace House, our transitional shelter for women and children, is starting the process of finding qualified volunteers to join our mission in helping families. The volunteer role would be ideal for social work, nursing, psychology, child advocacy, and child education students and grads or anyone who has experience in any of the mentioned areas.
Volunteers would be required to pass a background check, attend ongoing training, and commit to a minimum of one shift per week.
(Typically 4 hours). Ideal applicants will have a passion for helping families, be empathetic, dependable, have excellent communication skills, and understand and practice confidentiality.
Volunteers will help families by modeling positive social interactions and parenting skills, budgeting, healthy lifestyle skills, cooking and nutrition, resume writing, and employment related skills. Grace House is working to open early this fall, but volunteers would attend training and leadership meetings beginning this summer. Training will include trauma informed mentoring, ACES, First Aid/CPR, and poverty awareness.

Requirements: A rain garden clean-up day requires a minimum one-hour time commitment. The clean-up requires lifting, bending, and kneeling, but if a person is accustomed to working in a garden, they should be suitable for the work.

Join the Winona Walk Planning Committee and help grow the movement to end Alzheimer’s from the ground up. Committee members are the heart of the event, planning everything from the kick-off to the wrap-up. Some members focus on growing the event by recruiting teams and sponsors, others coordinate logistics, and some

Winona Chore Corps is a program under the Winona Friendship Center that provides older adults in the city of Winona and Goodview with services to ensure they are able to remain living safely in their own home.
The Chore Corps is in search of individuals who are interested in providing a variety of services including snow shoveling and snow blowing in the winter, lawn care in the summer, and a variety of other chore services year round. Equipment is provided by the Chore Corps or the client and includes lawn mowers, snow shovels, snow blowers, and more. The Chore Corps works to support the independence of older adults, build community, and provide valuable and meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Must be 18 to operate motorized equipment. Walking, pushing, and lifting may be required. Volunteers need to pass basic background check.
The front desk of the History Center is the heart of the organization. Volunteers will answer phone calls, direct visitors, handle admissions, ticket and gift shop sales. Generally, shifts are in 3-4 hour blocks, mostly during weekdays, with some weekend opportunities. The History Center is open weekdays 9am – 5pm, Saturdays 10am – 4pm and Sundays 12-4pm.

ReStore Donation Pick-up Truck Assistant – Ride along for pick-ups in the ReStore truck, and help keep our store full of amazing stuff!
Donation receiving- Help our amazing donors out by unloading donations in the Drive Thru and informing them where to go when we can’t take their items.
Donation processing- Sort, clean, and price new donations so they are ready for the sales floor.
Recycling/Scrapping – Disassemble unusable or broken items, and sort them into recycling or trash.
ReStore Cashier – Provide awesome customer service, and operate our register.
Customer Service – Organize the sales floor, help customers find their treasures, and make a great ReStore environment.
Janitor/Groundskeeper – Clean and tidy the store, wipe up spills, and check the grounds for trash.
Landscaping/Gardening – Mow the lawn, weed, or tend to our flower and vegetable gardens.
Office assistance – Assist in data collection and analysis, send out thank you cards, or help keep us organized!
Special Events/Fundraising – Help us plan, organize, solicit, and promote special events.
Construction/Painting– Be a part of the team on one of our home repair projects or new home construction.
