Last week the Winona community lost a dear friend and mentor to many. Here at Live Well we are saddened by the passing of Dee Cipov. She was considered to be one of our SUPER STAR Volunteers. Play Streets, Trinona, Mississippi Medley and our Community Challenge, were all events that she would selflessly volunteer her time and energy in support of our organization. We were unsuccessful at many attempts to honor her as our Volunteer of the Month, because in her humble stubborn style she wished to remain out of the limelight.
In the spring of 2013 she could no longer be anonymous. Dee received one of the highest recognition awards given in our community. The Ben & Adith Miller Community Service Tribute is awarded to an outstanding person, persons or community organization who has made a significant difference and positive impact on the Winona region and/or Winona Health. As reported on Winona Health’s website:
Dee Cipov received the 2013 Ben & Adith Miller Community Service Tribute Award at a dinner held in her honor on Tuesday, April 29. The Community Service Tribute is awarded to the person, persons or group whose generosity has led to the betterment of the Winona area.
Cipov was nominated by Kathy Benke, Fran Edstrom and Cherie Harkenreider, who wrote that Cipov not only volunteered her time, but also put her considerable talents to work initiating new volunteer and fundraising efforts.
According to her nomination, Cipov has generously given of her time and talents to benefit not only Winona Health but also the Winona community. Cipov volunteers through a number of non-profit organizations including: Colors of Cancer Fitness Festival, the Winona Health Auxiliary, the Winona History Center, Trinona, the Frozen River Film Festival, the YMCA, the Great River Shakespeare Festival, Habitat for Humanity, the Mid West Music Fest and Theatre du Mississippi.
Cipov is known for her great attitude, her dedication to her community and her exceptional hard work. She is a positive and motivated leader whose contributions have benefitted many organizations and made a significant positive impact on Winona.
Hugh and Vera Miller and RTP Company generously gave $25,000 to the Winona Health Foundation’s Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund in Cipov’s honor.
May you rest in peace dear friend, we’ll see you later.
