As you read this, fall will be in the air. Kids will be back to school and maybe a light jacket may be in order when you head out for work in the mornings. Thanksgiving and Christmas will be right around the corner (at least according to the stores). Many people have a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight, be in better shape, run a 5K, lower cholesterol or blood sugar levels, but they wait until January 1st to do this. Did you know January 1st, 2016 is a Friday? So why not just continue to ring in the New Year on the 2nd and 3rd? It’s a weekend and all those college football bowl games are just parties waiting to happen!
Now you’re on January 4th and all you can say is “Ugh”.
So why not start now? Do you have a gym membership? If so, get in contact with the gym and schedule an assessment with a personal trainer. They are very friendly people. They want to give you a starting point so when you improve you see those results! The YMCA, Anytime Fitness, and Snap Fitness in Winona offer a free personal assessment when you join. Many fitness centers also run specials, so call for more information. The two Cross Fit gyms in Winona also offer a free class and will discuss your goals with you.
You don’t have to be great to start, you just have to start to be great! Be great in your own way. Join a gym, walk, try Cross Fit and make that New Year’s Resolution this month.
