November Volunteer of the Month: Local Man Supports Winona Volunteer Services

November 7, 2017 By Live Well

Article written by Samantha Stetzer, Winona Daily News, November 6, 2017

About this series: Volunteer of the Month is a collaboration between the Daily News and Live Well Winona. A Winona-area volunteer is featured the first Monday of every month, as well as volunteer opportunities in the area.

Bob Leaf leaves his house at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and treks to Hy-Vee and Midtown Foods to bring a bread delivery to Winona Volunteer Services, ensuring those who use the volunteer and charity organization’s services have bread and bakery items.

He also mows the organization’s lawn and picks weeds when he sees it needs to be done, and the organization’s volunteer coordinator, Sabrina Jones, said Leaf has been recycling the organization’s bags without ever being asked, causing a mystery within the organization about who was taking the bags.

In previous years, Leaf helped deliver meals, sort food and served on the service organization’s board for nine years. His brothers are also involved with the organization, and Leaf asks them to substitute for him on those rare days he cannot make it to the grocery stores.
