“Growth demands a temporary surrender of security.” – Gail Sheehy
As many of you know, I have recently departed from my role as Operations Manager for Live Well Winona to take on a new challenge in my career. I enjoyed greatly my time at Live Well as well as the opportunity to be able to broaden my horizons by taking on tasks that were not available to me in my previous positions. Even more, I am exceptionally proud to have been a part of the beginning of Live Well and its mission of improving the health and wellness of the Winona community. The strength in collaboration that I witnessed in so many ways has renewed my optimism in what a community can be. This is why that it was all too hard to make the decision to move on from Live Well. However, as the quote states, I felt that I must continue to make changes in order to grow as a person and a professional.
“Success is achieved by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses.” – Marilyn vos Savant
I have been truly blessed to have enjoyed every one of my past positions and I believe that has been because each of them has afforded me the opportunity to thoughtfully determine what my strengths and weaknesses actually are. Doing so has given me the chance to determine a pattern of professional growth that could allow me to be successful by capitalizing on my strengths while allowing me to improve and work on my weaknesses. This is a testimony to great leaders and co-workers that were able to have a vision of growth for me as an individual as well as what I could bring to a team.
As I move forward into yet another change, although apprehensive and nervous, I am hopeful that it will again provide me the chance for continued growth, of which I ultimately desire.
“The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.” – Oprah Winfrey
