This summer I’ve had the opportunity to help students participating in Cotter’s Summer Enrichment Programs. These programs are designed to engage students K-8 in a variety of educational classes and activities throughout the summer. From classes like Computer Programming to The Art of Problem Solving, students are allowed to engage in the exploration of new ideas and understanding. I find myself extremely impressed every day by the creativity of the students and the way they eagerly respond to challenges. It’s amazing to watch their brains at work.
The human brain is capable of incredible things. In order for our mind to reach its full potential, we must challenge our minds every day. We must cherish mental growth and stimulation and make it a part of our every day lives.
When is the last time you really put your mind to work? When we don’t have a teacher in front of us challenging us and making us use our brains, we often forget to do so. If you are looking to improve your intellectual wellness but don’t know where to start, try these three simple things every day. All you need is YOU!
1. Be open to new ideas.
2. Seek personal growth by learning new skills.
3. Look for ways to use creativity.
“A mind that is stretched by new experiences can never go back to its old dimensions.” -Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
