When Hayley Hornberg graduated from Winona State University in 2010, she wanted to immerse herself in the Winona community, and soon discovered several volunteer opportunities throughout the years.
She said volunteering has helped her meet new people and learn how deep the connection among Winona’s residents runs, especially when it comes to a commitment to giving back.
“It’s a good way to feel connected with the community and meet new people,” she said.
Hornberg’s volunteering efforts began in 2009 when the first Trinona race took place. She was working part-time as a training assistant at Merchants Bank, one of the sponsors of the race, and they told employees about the need for volunteers and community support to make the race happen.
