Amy England credits her volunteering itch to her mom and a little faith.
The September Volunteer of the Month grew up with a mom who taught Sunday school and fed homeless people at church.
Now, England also teaches Sunday School at Pleasant Valley Church, helps at her daughters’ school, participates in Winona Volunteer Services’ Food for Thought program and helps with the church’s Bible camp as well.
“I think that goes back to my faith. We’re committed to give back, and I want to teach that to my kids,” England said.
England said had a career as an at-home physical therapist serving elderly clients 16 years ago. After eight years of full-time work, England left to stay home with her daughters, Audrey and Clara.
Meanwhile, she began teaching Sunday school a few times a month, finding new ways through her church to keep up her volunteering that was instilled in her at such a young age.
Though her daughters have graduated from the toddler Sunday School, England still teaches young, toddling parishioners about faith.
