The PartnerSHIP for a Healthy Winona County is making the healthy choice the easier choice by creating an environment that supports healthy behavior. The PartnerSHIP is pleased to award $8,399 in mini-grants to support the great work of six local organizations:
Project FINE will enhance their Colorful Growers and Health Promotion programs for immigrant and refugee families and individuals by educating youth on agriculture and training neighborhood health ambassadors;
The City of Winona Park and Recreation Department will install a bike repair station at the foot of the Holzinger trail system to expand physical activity opportunities;
Winona County will engineer a bike route between the East End and Center of Stockton to offer a safe environment for walking and biking;
Winona Health will host a second Farmers Market location on Wednesdays to improve accessibility of fresh fruits and vegetables;
St. Charles Farmers Market will expand their outreach and launch a Lewiston pop-up market to provide a source of fresh produce;
Hometown Resource Center Food Shelf in St. Charles will offer educational opportunities that emphasize healthy eating for clients in their new facility.
Through a comprehensive approach to local opportunities and challenges, the PartnerSHIP strives to make healthy options easier and more accessible for everyone who lives, works, plays and visits Winona County. Successful implementation of evidence-based sustainable changes is thanks to the dedicated community relationships that have been built over three years.
