All bicyclists, regardless of age, can help protect themselves and lower their risk of injury by wearing a bicycle helmet every time they ride. By following the rules of the road and with effective education and intervention we can help reduce injuries and fatalities to bicyclists.
According to Kids Safe Worldwide:
- 3 out of 4 children ride a bicycle in the US each month
- More ER injuries related to biking are seen in children ages 5 to 14 than any other sport
- Helmets help reduce risk
- Head injury by 45%
- Brain injury by 33%
- Facial injury by 27%
- Fatal injury by 29%
