Medley postcard 2

The goal of the Mississippi Medley Run/Walk Series is to offer an easy way for community members to be active while adding an element of community fun. We try to eliminate some of the barriers and excuses to being active by making it easier to register for multiple races, making it more affordable through discounted fees, offering support throughout the series, and encouraging participants of all levels (first timer through competitive athlete).

FAQ

Is this series only for serious runners? NO, definitely not! We want people of all ages and abilities to experience the joy and satisfaction of being active.

How many races do I have to do? Register for a minimum of 4 races for adults and 3 races for kids.

What’s in it for me? Cool t-shirt from each race, improved fitness, series apparel if you register for 8 or more 5ks, series medal if you register for all 12 races, finish line refreshments after each race, and a huge sense of personal satisfaction!

Can I register as a team? Unfortunately we do not have a team discount, however through our series you are getting a very good deal on the registration fee! Some races do have team challenges, and you’ll see a place to add your team name on the registration form for those specific races. We still encourage you to sign up with a friend or family member to make it even more fun.

Can I bring a stroller and my dog? Most races in this series are stroller-friendly, however the Mud/Trail Run is NOT one of them. Dogs are not permitted at the Mud/Trail Run, or at any of the races around East Lake Winona. Additional races may not allow dogs, so please contact them directly.

Refund & Weather Policy

During events there is always the potential for extreme or severe weather conditions. Live Well Winona and race directors will do as much as we can to make the experience as safe as possible.  However, if there is severe weather, the race may be delayed.  If there is more than a reasonable delay, or if conditions persist, race directors reserve the right to shorten or cancel the race. Entry fees are non-refundable.  Please check this webpage and your email before the race for any changes or cancellations.  If you are already at the event, listen to the announcer about any weather changes that may occur.

As a new runner, this is an exciting opportunity.  I think this is a great way to inspire walkers, new runners, and avid runners to participate in more local races together.

  • Kelly

Are there awards for walkers, too? Or just those with the best times (runners)?

    • livewellwinona

      Kelly,
We have door prizes that all participants are eligible for. We’ll do a drawing at the end of the series!

      • Kelly

Thanks for the answer. I would check on giving walkers some prizes besides door prizes since often walkers are the ones that these programs could benefit the most. I know runners get all the glory, but often they aren’t the ones overcoming obesity, injuries or disabilities. Just a thought for the future! :)

        • livewellwinona

          Hi Kelly,
That’s a great point. Do you have any suggestions for how we might base an award system on walkers? Our registration process did not differentiate between runner/walker, but maybe in the future that is something we could ask and break participants into 2 different categories for prizes.
