Dimensions of Wellness

How would you like to feel your best every day? Having energy, being productive, sleeping through the night, feeling happy and connected, being satisfied with your life, and experiencing confidence can be direct results of your healthy lifestyle choices.

Live Well Winona takes a holistic approach to wellness, realizing that it is composed of a variety of dimensions. These five dimensions are the foundation of our organization, and the primary focus of our efforts. We believe that a harmony must exist between the following areas of your health:

Health Tree: Intellectual, Spiritual, Social, Physical & Occupational Health

Intellectual

Intellectual healthHealth Tree - IntellectualEncouraging creative and stimulating mental activity helps keep us healthy and young at mind. Exposure to varied experiences leads us to be more open-minded and attuned to the world around us. Our thoughts influence our decisions, so keep both energized and fresh! Challenge yourself to ask questions, be open to new ideas, and learn new skills.

Spiritual

Spiritual healthHealth Tree - SpiritualBeing in touch with our deepest values and principles brings meaning to our existence. Spiritual wholeness is an important contributor to good mental and physical health, as it brings harmony, focus, direction, and balance to our lives. Personal meaning results from feeling connected, expressing compassion and love to others, remaining optimistic, being able to forgive, and having the ability to experience joy and peace in life. By engaging spiritual practices, such as meditation, prayer, and relaxation, you are more likely to keep in touch with your unique purpose in life.

Social

Social healthHealth Tree - SocialBeing a well-integrated member of the community encourages personal growth and connects us to one another. Surrounding ourselves with a supportive social network also contributes to our emotional health and happiness, and it helps us make healthier choices. By establishing positive relationships through trust and honesty, you will build confidence and high self-esteem. Furthermore, if you find ways to contribute to society, you will experience more fulfillment and enthusiasm in life.

Physical

Physical healthHealth Tree - PhysicalOptimal physical health occurs when our bodies are functioning at their highest potential. This results from healthy habits such as eating healthy, being active, and developing a regular sleep pattern. We must also be sure to avoid harmful habits, such as smoking, drug use, or heavy drinking. Preventive care, which includes getting regular physical exams, taking steps to prevent injury, and being cognizant of the signs of disease, is another essential step to making sure that our bodies are working to their fullest potential. When you involve nutrition, physical activity, healthy rest, and preventive care in your daily life, your body will perform at its peak, which will ultimately affect your mental well-being as well.

Occupational

Occupational healthHealth Tree - OccupationalExperiencing the satisfaction and pride of supporting ourselves and our family, and realizing the impact our chosen career field has on the society we live in, give our lives a sense of value and importance. Deriving meaning from our life’s work fuels a passion for life that inspires true happiness. When you balance your career expectations and your life outside of work you will maintain a healthy level of stress and find more value in your day to day life.
